Home and Design: Should You Add Art Pieces in the Bathroom?

Many people often believe that art pieces are best placed in areas such as the living room, dining area or the bedroom; however, very few often think of adding one in the bathroom. Is it wise to add art pieces in the bathroom?

Adding artworks in the bathroom may add to the visual aspect of the entire space. According to Apartment Therapy, the addition of art pieces in the bathroom can bring cheerfulness to the area, especially because no one is really expecting to see works of art in it.

The publication further noted that the bathroom may be the best place to experiment on pieces bought in thrift stores or if you would like to experiment on certain styles. It is said to be the best place to go bold, as doing drastic changes in your bathroom are easier to revert than when done in larger spaces such as the living room.

Brit + Co also listed several ways in which you can bring art pieces in the bathroom and how you an artwork can immediately accentuate your space. The outlet noted that silhouette portraits, when placed against plain backgrounds, can immediately give a sophisticated look and feel to your bathroom.

Art pieces are not limited to just paintings and photographs, as you can also hang those colorful glass plates you bought from the thrift store and turn them into decorative pieces in the bathroom.

You may also replace your bathroom mirrors with a statement art or you can display things such as bookends or shelves over your toilet tank. A simple black and white portrait will also go well if you are going for a minimalist design.

A common concern for those who are looking into hanging portraits or paintings in their bathrooms is humidity. Some people worry that the humidity in the bathroom may destroy the photos; however, as long as the photos are kept protected behind glass, they are good to go.
