'Dragon's Lair' Movie Adaptation Update: Creators Launch Kickstarter Campaign to Fund the Animated Film

Creators Don Bluth and Gary Goldman are launching a kickstarter campaign to fund the movie adaptation of "Dragon's Lair." This famous classic arcade video game rose to fame in 1983.

Spinoff Comic Book Resources says that veterans animators Don Bluth and Gary Goldman have a quest to produce the animation film of "Dragon's Lair." However, they need help to work on this project.

Don Bluth and Gary Goldman are long-time partners in making animations. Few of their works are "The Secret of NIMH," "An American Tail," "The Land Before Time". The partners need "$550,000 to fund a 10-minute video that they can then use to pitch studios and financiers on the $70 million feature film."

According to Shack News,"The Dragon's Lair: The Movie" will roughly cost around $70 million. Thus, a kickstarter campaign is necessary. Those who will participate in the campaign will be rewarded with various items such as "Dragon's Lair postcards, lanyards, a Dirk pin, a copy of the film's Blu-ray version, and more. Some of the more expensive pledge rewards includes a Princess Daphne statue, a Don Bluth Animation Masterclass, and a live mentoring from Don Bluth himself."

The said campaign for the "Dragon's Lair" movie adaptation will run for one month. To date, it has already generated $15,000.

However, Polygon says that the total budget for the animated movie project could be bigger than the estimated $70 million. In addition, the "Dragon's Lair" creators said that it would take 21 days to complete the campaign. This will be documented especially for those who give pledges $25 and above.

If one could recall, the original "Dragon's Lair" was available in the market in 1983. Then, the classic arcade video game was made available into different platforms. In 1991, "Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp," a sequel, was released in the market. Two years after, "Dragon's Lair 3: The Curse of Mordread," was also made available for PC, then "a 3D sequel hit PC and console in the early 2000s."

What do you think of this kickstarter campaign of "Dragon's Lair" movie? Do you think this will help out in making the movie project? Tell us what you think.
