‘The Flash' Season 2 Premiere Review: 'The Man Who Saved Central City' is Ambitious and an Excellent Start

"The Flash" Season 2 premieres today, and the first episode entitled "The Man Who Saved Central City" gets varied response from the avid fans, not-so devoted viewers, and critics. But overall, it has been given a very positive review.

Den of Geek says the premiere episode of "The Flash" season 2 could not equal the "emotional highs" of its season 1 finale. It also reports that episode 1 of the current season is not the best part among the rest. However, "it's an ambitious offering that does its best to balance a villain of the week (former wrestler Adam "Edge" Copeland as Atom Smasher) whose origin has season long implications and the clean up from the end of the first season all while allowing the entire cast to do what they do best."

The review of "The Man Who Saved Central City" also points out that things are coming too soon in the first part. At times in a TV series, there are things that are better revealed on the later part of the season. But with episode 1, though those resolutions and revelations have been presented too early, "those pieces" have been "put back in place," and it has been done in an admirable manner. It has been worked out "between the kind of introspective moments that only a cast as talented as this one could pull off on a superhero show with some of the best special effects you're likely to see on a network show this year."

"The Flash" Season 2 "The Man Who Saved Central City" has both pluses and minuses. The wrinkle found in this show is that it is trying to be more than necessary. It has been observed that even in "the first episode of season one, it had its hands full getting a complete origin story out of the way." And it appears like the premiere episode of season 2 is also concentrating in getting a another head start, which in return "forgets how heavily invested the audience already is in these characters, and doesn't give events time to breathe." The critic says that there are some major dramatic disclosures that merit that kind of space.

Forbes on the other hand says that the second season of "The Flash" gives an excellent start in "The Man Who Saved Central City." It is not only the first part that is pretty impressive but even towards it ending, it gives fans an interesting surprise as Jay Garrick shows up.

IGN also gives its verdict in the premiere episode of "The Flash" season 2. According to its article, the debut comes pretty "darker than expected." To add, the return of this favorite superhero tv series has showed off strong visual effects including tons of humor in spite of showing darker elements, not to mention a handful of emotional moments too.
