As we maneuver the year 2021 with hope and positivity, why don't we include a little home renovation by incorporating Behr's color of the year, Canyon Dusk.

Behr Paint recently announced their color of the year - a dusty pink shade with a mix of cozy, warm, and light terracotta shade. It leans on the pinkish-orange beige tone, a familiar shade we often see during sunset before the darkness sets in.

Not your typical millennial pink

According to the architectural paint and exterior wood care products supplier, Canyon Dusk symbolizes a promise of a new day.

"There is something so reassuring about dusk, the moment just after sunset, which brings the promise of a new day," says Behr's vice president for color and creative service, Erika Woelfel.

"The illuminating, free-spirited Canyon Dusk is a color that can be found in a variety of places, from an awe-inspiring desert landscape to the color of sunbaked clay," she added.

Woelfel explained that the team decided to have this shade as the year's color as it gives a "centering capabilities" vibe, especially during uncertain times like this in the middle of a global pandemic.

Canyon Dusk's versatility is described as a "soft shade that whispers rather than shouts." When used at home and with architectural features, the color makes a lowkey decorative statement.

The dusty pink shade also speaks for the overall color trends of neutrals that feels fresh and comfortable.

According to Sarah Fishburne - The Home Depot's director of trend and design, Canyon Dusk possesses a versatile characteristic and can play in any home style.

"It's all about how you pair it with other colors," Fishburne said.

"[Pair it] with black and white, and it can be modern or classic. Or pair it with something airy and light, and you create a spa-like, coastal atmosphere," she added.

While the color fits perfectly on minimalist homes, it also goes well with Boho interior design. You can also mix-and-match it with the famous plants and rattan furniture decors.

In the 90s, everybody got their Friends-inspired purple door complete with the yellow frame on the back. But for 2021, you may already ditch that old but good purple door and replace it with the warm Canyon Dusk tone. It's one good way of showcasing the homeowner's personality.
