Home and Décor: Cheap and Easy Ways to Personalize Your Kitchen in a Rental Apartment

Buying the home of your dreams may still seem like years away from coming to reality. But that doesn't mean you should stick with that boring, dull kitchen in your rental apartment. Here are some cheap and easy ways to decorate and personalize your kitchen without doing anything drastic.

Renting an apartment may be the next best thing for people who cannot yet afford to buy a home of their own. However, it does not give its occupants the chance to personalize and decorate the space because of certain limitations.

These limitations, however, should not be a reason for you to just wallow in the sorrow every time you see how unappealing and dull your kitchen looks like. According to Apartment Therapy, you can immediately boost the look and feel of your kitchen even without doing drastic makeovers or renovations.

The simple addition of a colorful rug at the center of the kitchen can immediately accentuate the room. Rugs with vibrant colors or artistic patterns will help bring color and life to your kitchen.

Stools, which are in contrasting colors to the kitchen wall's paint, may also help boost the look and feel of your kitchen. The addition of a colorful or patterned curtain to the window may also help bring some life into your dull kitchen.

House Beautiful also noted that adding eccentric pieces to your kitchen will also bring about a certain level of appeal, as these pieces will help take the attention away from the unattractive parts of the kitchen.

It may be odd for you to see a kitchen with a sitting area, but the publication stated that the addition of a cozy chair next to the kitchen island will help make it feel more homey.

"Every home needs those little moments," said designer Lyndsay Caleo. "Who doesn't love curling up in a cozy chair?"
