'New Girl' Season 5 Spoilers: Season Starts With Cece and Schmidt Engagement Party

“New Girl” Season 5 will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 on FOX after it took a break in May. The new season debuts with the premiere episode featuring an engagement party for Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield), titled “Big Mama P."

In the premiere episode, Schmidt and Cece will ask Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) to be their Best Man and Maid of Honour for their upcoming wedding. With that, the two ex-lovers will organize an engagement party that will turn out to be full of tension since Jess unexpectedly invited Cece’s mom (Anna George). With the presence of Cece's mom, things will appear complicated and Cece will reveal something to Schmidt that will surprise him.

During the party, Jess will introduce a special number by Schmidt and Nick for Cece by riding on a motorized wheelchair and trying to make a joke saying, “I’m the maid of honor, but when I fell down the stairs, I wish I was made of rubber.” But despite the awkward silence after her joke, she added, “This one goes out to the secret romantic in the audience, just a little reminder that love conquers all.”

The groom and the best man will present an Indian Bollywood dance number which impressed and moved Cece because of the effort they exerted but Cece's mom wasn't impressed especially that she doesn't like Schmidt, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Megan Fox will make her show debut on the sixth episode of Season 5 as Reagan since Jess leaves to attend jury duty. Reagan is a gorgeous pharmaceutical sales representative who came to the town for a short while in order to do some business and she will rent the room of Jess temporarily. Fox will appear for five episodes of the show.

According to “New Girl” star, Jake Johnson, Fox will offer a fun and fresh twist to the series which is apparently not expected by fans of the show since they bashed Fox when it was confirmed that she will be joining the show while Deschanel is still on maternity leave.

“We replaced Jess’ energy with a different energy in the loft. Everyone acts differently, there’s a slightly different feeling to everything — but the show, at its core, was the same, which was a neat experiment to be part of,” Johnson said according to TV Line.
