'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Unlimited on IMAX for One Entire Month

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will kick other movies out of screen this coming December as the movie is declared a high priority or IMAX. For one whole month, the movie will be featured exclusively. Furthermore, the movie "In The Heart Of The Sea" will not be featured because of the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" dominant standing for IMAX.

J.J. Abrams' Star Wars have been labeled through history as one of the greatest even made. In fact, after several decades since the franchise was introduced in the screen, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the sequel's latest remake, will hit the theaters this coming December 18.

The movie will not experience a lighter VIP-section treatment come its release either. As reported by Hollywood Reporter, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will dominate the IMAX screens, landing a permanent spot their theaters both domestic and worldwide.

Currently, IMAX has about 375 to 400 theaters in the United States and over 400 abroad. For one whole month this coming December, the movie will be aired in these establishments.

According to Collider, this is not the first time that IMAX favored one movie over the others. In fact, the company made a deal with "The Hobbit" franchise, also featuring its installments exclusively and aired longer than other movies that time. However, at present, IMAX has not made commitments on the franchise since four years ago.

The said movie will be featured in IMAX theaters from December 18, 2015 through January 29, 2015. Because of the longitivity of its presence in the theaters, the movie "In The Heart Of The Sea" will be sacrificed. The said movie will only have a one-week period on IMAX screens and would be booted out to make way for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Clearly, the IMAX company felt that keeping "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" longer in the theaters would enable them to gain more profit that the other movies such as "The Game of Thrones: Mockingjay Part 2" and "Spectre."
