Sandra Bullock's Unusual Reaction to Being Named 'Most Beautiful Woman': 'Women Are Bullied'

Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock, who was chosen by People magazine as the "Most Beautiful Woman," recently aired her disappointment over how women are bullied in the media. The 50-year-old Oscar winner who is appearing in the film "Minions" expressed her displeasure with the media focusing more on the looks and the age of women rather than on what they are as a person.

"I'm shocked -- and maybe I was just naïve, but I'm embarrassed by it. My son is getting ready to grow up in this world and I'm trying to raise a good man who values and appreciates women, and here we have this attack on women in the media that I don't see a stop happening," she told E! News.

Bullock is mom to a five-year old named Louis who is the one who introduced her to the minions in the "Despicable Me" movie, according to ET Online. He reportedly has no idea that her mom is an actress and is actually appearing in a starring role as Scarlet Overkill in the "Minions" movie, which is set to open on July 10.

Bullock is also concerned with what the young girls have to deal with. She said, "We are harming girls and women in a way, at a speed that it's scaring me," she added in the interview with E! News. "... Little girls are having the hardest time with bullying and the Internet -- somebody with a very large hand and big voice needs to put a stop to it."

In the meantime, a lot of fellow women in Hollywood have united and supported each other to somehow mitigate the impact of the attack against them, she revealed.

"You'd be surprised at the love that you have in our crazy industry," she said in the interview. "The women have bonded together and have sort of become this tribe of trying to take care of each other and be there for each other in a way, because the minute you step out it's an onslaught."

She did not readily agree to be the cover of People's latest issue, but the "Ms. Congeniality" star reportedly saw it as an opportunity for her to talk about the amazing women whom she finds beautiful.

"I laughed when [People] said they're gonna be generous and bestow me this wonderful privilege, but I said if I can talk about the amazing women who I find beautiful, which are these women who rise above and take care of business and do wonderful things, and take care of each other, then I'm more than honored to be on the cover of this," Bullock said in the interview.
