Richard Matt and David Sweat both convicted killers, makes history when they executed an elaborate and sophisticated espape from an upstate New York prison last Saturday, according to CNN."These are dangerous people.", New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. Matt, 49 and Sweat, 35 were discovered missing from their side-by-side cells Saturday morning during a "standing count" of inmates at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannamora, New York, the state police said. The facility is the largest in the state which has a population of 2689 inmates.According to BBC, the pair used power tools and decoys to look like they're sleeping. Head counts are performed every two hours throughout the night. The escapees tricked their guards by arranging things on their bedbunks. "It looked like people were sleeping...with these sweatshirt hoodies on.", the governor said. They were last seen at 10:30 p.m. Friday during the standing count, authorities said. Matt and Sweat cut through a steel wall and followed a series of tunnels and pipes until they emerged from a manhole outside the prison walls. The police also added that it is still unknown as to how and where the two got the necessary tools they used in this sophisticated escape. However, Cuomo, who toured the escape route that consists of maze of tunnels and pipes said that, it is possible the escapees' tools came from workers performing maintenance on the 1845 facility.
