Celebrity Homes for Sale: Rolling Stones Guitarist Keith Richards Sells Fifth Ave Penthouse for $12.23M

Two years after purchasing the penthouse of 1 Fifth Avenue, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and his wife, model Patti Hansen, are now selling the place for $12.23 million. According to New York Curbed, the couple bought the penthouse in 2014 for $10.5 million after it underwent a $4.5 million price chop.

The penthouse has a total of four bedrooms and four full bathrooms, and it also includes three units which were combined in 2011 through the renovation by architect Joe Serrins. Some classic touches were added by Serrins like the leather-wrapped bronze handrail on the stairs and sliding walls which allow the library on the main floor to be opened from the living area. The penthouse also has a total of three terraces and en-suite bathrooms.

According to the listing details, the main level of the penthouse has a 47-foot expansive living, dining and entertainment space which features open views of the historic Greenwich Village and the Manhattan skyline. Next to the living room is the dining area, breakfast counter and a modern sun-filled kitchen. On the opposite side of the common area is a library which can be converted into a guest room with a full en-suite bathroom which is fully separated from the rest of the floor by a sliding wall.

The master bedroom features two large walk-in closets and a sp- like bathroom with a shower stall, double vanity sink and large soaking tub. The staircase leads to the two winged bedrooms, and both have en-suite bathrooms. In between the bedrooms is a large sitting area with city views. The unit also has a full laundry room and a separate utility closet.

It was said that the building was originally built as a luxury hotel in 1929 and is the work of the lead design architect Harvey Wiley Corbett. The building offers amenities like time doorman and laundry facilities and storage.
