Alex Rodriguez, the scandal-scarred New York Yankees' slugger, isn't really a favorite of the management and residents living in the prestigious 15 central park West Building.
According to the New York Daily News, the management of the building is against A-Rod's decision to move back into the building, where he once rented a unit for $30,000 a month.
A-Rod apparently moved to a "3,585-square-feet apartment at Extell Development's the Rushmore at 80 Riverside Boulevard" after leaving the unit at 15 CPW but plans on returning to the place, reports the Real Deal. But the management has banned A-Rod from renting or buying a unit in the building because they believe he brings with him a lot of negative press and stirs up a lot of controversy.
What kind of controversy?
A-Rod's libido was a highlight in Michael Gross' book "House of Outrageous Fortune: Fifteen Central Park West, the World's Most Powerful Address." The book claimed that the Yankees third baseman brought in too many prostitutes, usually two at once, twice a week and would never invite the same ones again.
Curbed went on to count the number of call girls A-Rod brought in (given he lived in the building for an approximate two years) and estimated about 418 of them visited the player.
What's worse - he was dating Cameron Diaz at the time when he brought in the escorts!
"He got hookers all the time. Usually two at a time, two times a week. One time he had two go up, they came down and left, and ten minutes later, Cameron Diaz walks in. He doesn't care. I hate the guy. He thought he was God," Gross quoted a building member.
However, A-Rod's representative denied all the claims of hooker-entertaining saying they were 100 percent false and "defamatory."
"It's comical that we even have to waste our time responding to such stories, but not surprising as certain people have an agenda against Alex," the rep added.
The unit that A-Rod was renting was up for sale last year. It belongs to steel magnate Leroy Schecter, who combined the unit and an adjacent condo to list it together for $85 million. Now the unit is up for rent again at a higher $125,000 a month.
