‘Outlander’ Season 2 Spoilers: Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe Fail to Stop the Jacobite Rising; Jamie and Claire Set Sail in Season 3

"Outlander" Season 2 is still in production but the cast, crew and fans are already anticipating for more seasons of the Starz time traveler series. The show's sophomore season on TV is expected to feature a more political take, as Jamie and Claire travel to France to stop the Jacobite Rising. Will Jamie and Claire succeed or will the Battle of Culloden still take place?

Warning: This article contains spoilers for "Outlander" as well as Diana Gabaldon's books "Dragonfly in Amber" and "Voyage." Read on if you want to learn more about the details of this story.

Fans are excitedly waiting for "Outlander" Season 2, especially after a successful first season on Starz. The show has received a lot of support from fans and viewers that it has even boosted Scotland's tourism. While a specific release date for the show's upcoming season has not yet been announced, what can fans expect from Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) this season?

According to Cinema Blend, Jamie and Claire will be traveling to France to meet with Bonnie Prince Charlie in an attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden from taking place. Unfortunately, it looks like the couple will not be able to succeed in their attempts, as showrunner Ron Moore has already spoken up about the show's (possible) third season.

Should "Outlander" continue to gain support and attention from fans and viewers the same way it did in Season 1, the third season is expected to cover Diana Gabaldon's third book titled "Voyage." The outlet noted that Jamie and Claire will be taking on a long journey by ship to Jamaica, right before the Battle of Culloden happens. This means that Jamie and Claire will, unfortunately, fail in their attempts to change history and save their friends.

Meanwhile, a new teaser photo has been uploaded on "Outlander" official Twitter page, which showed Claire having dinner in France, Carter Matt reported.

Are you excited to see "Outlander" Season 2? What do you wish to see when the show returns in 2016 on Starz?
