"Outlander" Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in the spring of 2016 and fans are already excited to see what awaits their favorite characters, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe). The upcoming season of the Starz series will be based on Diana Gabaldon's second book titled "Dragonfly in Amber."

The finale episode of "Outlander" Season 1 aired months ago and fans are already excitedly waiting for the upcoming season. In an interview with Scotsman, Gabaldon admitted that very few know about the challenges that the cast and crew have to face while on set.

"They complain bitterly about what they see as the delay in putting on the next series as they have no idea how long it takes to make an episode. It literally takes four weeks of filming and another four weeks of post-production," the author said.

The "Outlander" author further revealed that writing an episode for the series and being on set has been "tremendously interesting" but also "very tiring." Gabaldon also admitted that one of the greater challenges in producing the second season of the series was the lack of daylight.

"But if they want to do day-time scenes everyone has to get up really early in the morning to get the first hint of daylight," she added.

Sam Heughan pretty much hinted of the same ordeal as Gabaldon, as the Scottish actor recently revealed on social media that he filmed some "tough scenes" while shooting them in "challenging conditions," Youth Health Mag reported.
