Five Nights At Freddy's Mystery: Bite of '87 Versus '83

Just previously, it was reported that "Five Nights at Freddy's" and "Undertale" fans have viciously attacked a game developer for coming up with a crossover game involving these two indie games. Such incident proves that fans can be over protective of the lore of their favorite titles and no one still seemed to have learned their lesson, at least in this debate no one was hostile.

A Reddit debate was started three months ago by a certain r/WIdipper. The debate is on the year when an animatronic was said to have gnawed a Freddy Fazbear's Pizza diner. There had been two theories. One theory says the "notorious bite" happened in 1987 and the other one was formulated with Easter egg on a simulated TV screen displays "Fredbear And Friends 1983" at the end of Night 3 in the fourth game as the basis that "Five Nights At Freddy's 4" took place in 1983.

r/WIdipper probably wanted to put an end to this debate once and for all. The debate still goes on even after TeddyBear 87 has taken to Steam Forums to insist that the animatronics did not exist before they were introduced in 1987 and to remind everyone that "Five Nights At Freddy's" creator Scott Cawthon had been teasing "Bite of '87" for months.

In the debate, it was inevitable that there are those who are merely trolling but it was apparent that "FNAF" fans are still divided between Camp '83 and Camp '87. One fan voting for 'Bite of 87 wrote, "Evidence for the Bite of 87: Confirmation Bias, the existence of the toys, the fact that there was most likely only one bite, the fact that each day could have been a different year (so game starts in 83 and ends in 87), Mangle, the fact Fredbear, endo and all, was still brought to the FNaF2 location for spare parts, the fact that there are sister locations. My opinion: It's The Bite of 87."

Scott is yet to give an official word on this, which would settle things down.
