Fossil Q Founder Specs, Features, Price & Release Date: A Fashionable Smartwatch

American lifestyle brand Fossil has recently announced its new product line of connected wearables called Fossil Q which is made of the smart bracelets Q Dreamer and Q Reveler, and smartwatches Q Grant and Q Founder. Q Founder is the flagship product.

According to CNET, Q Founder has a circular display and traditional watch lugs. It actually looks like Motorola's Moto 360. Based on initial images, Q Founder is said to have an odd black bar at the bottom which would likely feature a light sensor to adjust display brightness automatically.

Fossil Q Founder has an Intel processor and runs Android Wear. It is compatible with both iPhone and Android devices. Owners will be able to receive notifications through the watch including calls, text messages, emails and calendar reminders. It has a full touchscreen display. Users can also enjoy personalized Google cards that will provide information such as weather details and traffic. Meanwhile, CNET also noted that the smartwatch needs to be in Bluetooth range of smartphone or connected to Wi-Fi.

According to the official website of the fashion watchmaker, Q Founder will be available in November, just in time before the Christmas holidays. Its price starts at $275, which is competitive enough with other smartwatches in the market. Its edge would be that it's a better looking, more fashionable than others.

Jill Elliott-Sones, chief creative officer at Fossil, said (via Wearable.com), "Our customers are obsessed with their personal sense of style and staying connected, and we are thrilled to enter into this emerging category with an answer to their needs."

Q Dreamer ($125), Q Reveler ($125) and Q Grant ($175-$195) are already available in the market since Oct. 25.

Meanwhile, another traditional watchmaker that is venturing into the smartwatch world is TAG Heuer, which will release its Connected smartwatch on Nov. 9. TAG Heuer Connected also has an Intel processor and runs Android Wear. It is priced at $1,800, making it the most expensive smartwatch to date.

Wearable.com further said that with the release of this Fossil Q line, people can expect more smartwatches and jewelries from other brands such as Michael Kors and Emporio Armani.
