TAG Heuer Connected Specs, Features, Release Date and Price: Most Expensive Android Wear Watch To Date

Traditional watchmakers are venturing into producing smartwatches to win customers back. TAG Heuer has announced that it will be releasing an Android smartwatch named Connected, and then Fossil has also revealed its new Q line which is a range of connected wearables.

TAG Heuer Connected will be officially released on Nov. 9. The luxury watchmaker describes the new product as: "Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology."

Meanwhile, according to WTVOX, the Carrera Heuer 01 model inspired the design of TAG Heuer Connected. Its case is made from titanium carbide coated steel. It has a screen that is always on but when touched would show digital options. Connected has a durable, perforated, black elastomer strap.

TAG Heuer Connected is powered by an Intel Curie which is based on "System on Chip" instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon. This makes it easier to upgrade the watch in the future. Alexandra King, TAG's UK communications manager, said, "The smartwatch will change its technology as it evolves. We want to be able to change the technology but keep the watch elements. We want to create something that will stay with you for a lifetime; that's what TAG Heuer does. And as the technology change, the hardware will change."

Battery life is also important since it's a smart device and Connected can last up to 40 hours, which is better than the current smartwatches in the market. And as better software comes, battery can still be improved as well.

Because TAG Heuer considers Apple as its competitor in producing luxury watches, the company partnered with Google and Connected will be running on Android Wear operating system.

TAG Heuer Connected reportedly has a price tag of $1,800 and that makes it the most expensive Android Wear watch to date, WTVOX reported.

TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver first announced the partnership with Intel and Google to come with a luxury smartwatch in March.
