‘Suits’ Season 5 Spoilers: Showrunner Weighs In on Mike’s Whistleblower, Hints Series’ Change of Course; Donna to Have a New Love Interest from the Firm?

The first half of Season 5 of "Suits" left viewers with a major cliffhanger as Mike (Patrick J. Adams) was finally arrested for fraud. While the second half of the season will resume next year, various reports have been circulating regarding the storyline of the show.

A recent report suggests that Donna (Sarah Rafferty) will move on from Harvey (Gabriel Macht) with a new lawyer from the Pearson-Liit firm. Meanwhile, showrunner Aaron Korsh has discussed details about Mike's whistleblower.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Korsh addressed the rumors that Rachel's parents may have been the one who told the police about Mike, which led to his arrest. While Korsh remained coy in his answers, he said that if the rumor is indeed true, then Mike and Rachel's (Meghan Markle) relationship will be in trouble, since Rachel has vowed to stand by his fiance's side and keep his secret.

It can be recalled that in the first half of the season, Mike proposed to Rachel and the latter was already preparing for her wedding. It remains unclear now if the wedding will push through after Mike's arrest.

Korsh also pointed out that what happens to Mike after his arrest is what's important than finding out who turned him in. He also hinted that the cliffhanger in Season 5A will eventually change the show's course in Season 5B, which will mostly focus on Mike and his ordeal.

Korsh also added that the show will not feature a time jump in the second half of Season 5. He said that the series will pick up right after the major cliffhanger in Season 5A. He clarified though that the whistleblower will not be immediately revealed in the premiere episode when the show returns next year.

Meanwhile, Yibada reports that Donna will move on from Harvey in Season 5B with another lawyer from Pearson-Liit. It can be recalled that Harvey refused to take his relationship with Donna to a new level, and Donna said in a previous episode that she was dating someone, which was a lie, apparently to protect herself. The report states though that Donna may have been actually telling the truth all along. But who could be her new love interest?

Viewers will have to find out more details when the second half of Season 5 of "Suits" returns. No official premiere date has been announced yet, but the show is expected to come back sometime in January next year.
