‘One-Punch Man’ Episode 1 Review: First Episode Lives Up to Expectations, but Garners Heated Discussions on Forums

The "One-Punch Man" anime series has already premiered in Japan Television, giving fans a glimpse of what is yet to come. The first episode was released and could be streamed for free and has generated heated discussions in various forums, aside from critics' reviews.  

It cannot be denied that One and Yusuke Murata's "One-Punch Man" has been a much awaited anime adaptation. Kpopstarz reports that the first episode entitled "The Strongest Man" has recently been aired in Japan, and streamed in some parts of the globe via Viz Media.

The first episode of "One-Punch Man" anime series revolves on the Saitama dreaming that he is fighting as a hero of the story. Episode 1 opens having a massive explosion at the heart of the city. The siege was led by a blue monster-type man, destructing several buildings. To stop the terrorism, an "an organization works to send someone to help. Alone in his apartment, Saitama decides he should go and fight." As expected, Saitama defeats his enemy in one punch. So he is upset and curses himself for terminating his enemy too soon. And the story continues showcasing the origin of Saitama.

On a different note, reviews are coming out for the episode 1 of "One-Punch Man" and Anime News Network has generated its reviews. One of the critics gives the first episode a rating of 4. The critic says that the first episode has lived up to the expectation of the fans. "It's hard to fault the visual adaptation, with monsters like Vaccine and the giant body builder living up to their original depictions and Saitama's deadpan speech patterns as he fights them." However, she also has noticed that there are few original details from the manga that have been lost. Nonetheless, " the old-school-style fight scenes more than make up for that, with dynamic movement, clearly visible speed lines, and plenty of monster viscera."

The second critic gives a rating of 4.5. According to him, it didn't disappoint him including those he thinks have high expectations of the "One-Punch Man" anime series. He said that the technical merits give a positive and strong impression, despite having an old school look.

However, you can't please everybody. Opinions can be checked from different discussion boards. In Reddit for example, most are positive, but some are skeptical that the anime series of "One-Punch Man" could sustain the hype that it has received from manga fans.
