Apple iPhone 7 Release Date & Features: Patent Suggests Smartphone Will Be Waterproof; Device To Be Launched in Sept. 2016?

Rumor has it that tech giant Apple is gearing up to release its new iteration of smartphone, the iPhone 7. A recent rumor has surfaced on Tuesday, saying that the company's rumored smartphone will be the first iPhone to become a "waterproof" device. This rumor is said to be based from the patent that the company has applied for, which reportedly suggests a waterproof material.

Aside from this, it was said that the upcoming device will be launched on Sept. 16 next year. It was noted that the rumored release date is not yet official, but industry commentators believe that the company will likely unveil the iPhone within the given timeframe, a report from Youth Health Mag said.

The Daily Mail UK reports that Analyst Ming-Kuo predicted that Apple's upcoming iPhone 7 will be considered the thinnest smartphone of the company with a physical dimension of just 6 mm thickness.

"This would put it on par with the iPod Touch, and would be almost a millimeter thinner than the current iPhone 6," the report claimed.

According to DigiTimes, a Taiwan-based semiconductor company has actually secured a contract from Apple, and it will be the exclusive supplier of A10 processors, the company's next-generation mobile chip processors. The company is said to start the production of the processors on March 16 next year.

"TSMC will offer its in-house developed backend integrated fan-out (InFO) wafer-level packaging for the production of the A10 chips, which will be built using the foundry's 16nm FinFET process technology. The A10 will be featured in the iPhone 7 series slated for launch during the third and fourth quarters of 2016," the report said.

For Apple, the A10 chip will reportedly increase the processor's performance by 70 percent, and it is expected to improve the general performance of iPhone, particularly the graphics. There could be additional features too, which can surpass the performance of A9 processor, according to Geek.com

Macrumor also reports that Apple's rumored iPhone 7 will feature a new display technology that is edge-to-edge, which can be found on Samsung's latest smartphone devices. Another report has also indicated that Apple will stick to the in-cell panels.
