"Dar and Saul have an unspoken pact to not have anyone know what the true nature of their relationship is," Mandy Patinkin, who plays Saul, in "Homeland" had said. In the fifth season of the Showtime TV series, viewers will get a deeper look on the two characters' seemingly mysterious and complex relationship. How will their dynamic affect their operations?
Design & Trend shares that both Dar (F. Murray Abraham) and Saul have a mission to make a world a better place, but a recent video posted by Showtime on YouTube implies that Dar's psyche might get messed up due to his "destructive means" in achieving such goal. Both characters also take pride in their ability to misdirect people's focus.
Dar and Saul do not deny the fact that they do have a connection, but they maintain suspicion towards one another, implying that their "alliance" isn't as solid as it seems.
When it comes to Saul's character, he's described as a "company man" more than ever. He says that his current actions aren't results of him being passed up as the head of CIA. At the same time, no one really knows if he's angry about the decision. He became the person he didn't want to be back in Season 3, a traditionalist, but fans of the show must not take this change as it is. All Saul knows is that he's the best in the business.
Although not much has been revealed on what's going to happen to the two characters, the teaser videos seen below provide hints on how they'll be able to connect to one another. Both have darker views on life, and how their individual pursuits affect their work will be an interesting thing to watch out for on Season 5 of "Homeland," which airs on October 4.
Stills from the first episode of the fifth season titled "Separation Anxiety" are up on the International Business Times.
