The New 2021 Housing Scheme of Delhi Development Authority

According to The Economic Times, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is created for the sole purpose of developing the infrastructure of India's capital city, New Delhi. The new 2021 Housing Scheme of DDA is meant to provide new homes in the form of flats, mostly being between two-story and three-story flat designs. As mentioned earlier, many people in India who are desiring to have their own homes have applied for the said housing program.

Unfortunately, not all of those who applied for the said housing program will be eligible for it. The selection process will be done in a draw lot, selecting the qualified people and families that truly need and deserve such housing assistance from DDA (and from the government in a retrospective way). The qualified applicants will be chosen on the 5th of March, 2021.

The new housing scheme was launched by DDA on the 2nd of January, 2021, and was noted for getting 10 lakh (a numbering system used in India amounting to 100,00 per lakh, therefore 10 lakh is 1,000,000) hits on the day it was announced on the DDA's website. They have posted the prices for the upcoming flat units on the said website, with their prices listed below:

  1. Flats for Higher Income Group qualified applicants (HIG Flats): Rs. 69.6 lakh & Rs. 2.1 crore
  2. Flats for Middle Income Group qualified applicants (MIG Flats): Rs 40.6 lakh & Rs. 1.4 crore
  3. Flats for Lower Income Group qualified applicants (LIG Flats): Rs 17.7 to 35.5 lakh

Do take note that each kind of flat has a limited number available for applicants. Currently, the number of each type of flat is listed as follows:

  • Available number of HIG Flats: 254 units
  • Available number of MIG Flats: 757 units
  • Available number of LIG Flats: 52 units
  • Other flat units that aren't included in any category above (EWS Flats): 219 units

Current Status of DDA's 2021 Housing Scheme

According to MagicBricks, there are only less than 10 days left for hopeful applicants to pass their submissions in order to be qualified for the said housing scheme. The final deadline for applicants would be on the 16th of February, 2021. Then, as mentioned earlier, the drawing of lots for qualified applicants will be done on the 5th of March, 2021.

A DDA official stated that out of the 15,361 applicants for the said housing scheme, only 6,488 of those have completed their final payment for the application fee. Out of those 6,488 payments, 4,147 of those are for both HIG and MIG Flats, while 872 are for LIG Flats, and 1,469 are for EWS Flats.
