A Tiny House Created To Provide Shelter for the Homeless While Redefining the Term "Public Space"

One such creation from Andrés & José Design Studio from Mexico aims to solve the said homeless problem with their mobile creation. According to Apartment Therapy, the said studio designed and created this mobile home with the hopes it can provide a small space for most of the homeless in their country. Additionally, they see this as a way to redefine the usage of public space in most locations.

The primary creators of this genius concept, namely Andrés Sáenz and José Álvarez, created a small, mobile blue house on wheels, wherein the occupant can simply tow it to their desired location. The pair of creators first showed their idea concept in an event named the 2020 Mexican Design Open and named their concept "rodar design" (rodar means roll in English). The said design combines the mobility provided by a wheeled vehicle while providing a small space for living for those inside it.

The overall design of the rodar design mobile home is simple yet effective on its primary goal. It is small. compact blue home with a triangular roof design. On one side of the mobile home, there is a handle that can be used to physically tow it to a new location, or it can be hooked to a bike or other forms of vehicles. It has 4 wheels: two small trolley wheels near the handle area, while two enlarged bicycle wheels at the back.

The back consists of two main doors that swing outward. Inside is an elevated sleeping/eating place, wherein the bottom space can be used to store personal items of the owner. On the side of the handlebar, there are two smaller doors that can also open. Additionally, it also has two smaller window-like partitions that can be also opened.

Other Tiny Mobile Home Designs That Are Currently in Use

Aside from the rodar design previously implemented, there are other designs of tiny mobile homes that can help in solving the issue with public spaces. According to New Atlas, the Tiny House Nano design is one such example of small mobile home designs currently used in the mobile home market.

Design by a French company named Baluchon, they are a known seller of mobile homes in France with small and nano designs in mind. The previously mentioned design, the Tiny House Nano, is one of their products and is notable for its almost perfect cube-shaped design. The overall design of the said mobile home is only 3.3m by 2.3m, which can be hooked to one's car for easy transport. Even though being small in size, it still provides the comforts of a regular home, albiet having the advantage of being mobile when it needs to be.
