Many of us are aware of Ellen DeGeneres' fondness of home design and furniture design which we will once again see in the second season of “Ellen’s Design Challenge.”

Said show features contestants who will be tasked to design impressive furniture pieces that are not just visually appealing but are also functional. For this season, the finalists will be tasked to sketch, design, and build furniture for the greenrooms at The Ellen DeGeneres Show and for other sites. The winner will go home with a $100,000 cash prize courtesy of Wayfair.com and will also get featured in HGTV Magazine.

In the show, viewers will see the many different ways to make a chair, a table and other furniture. The contestants could be tasked to design a certain type of furniture or may even be limited to use a certain material.
The idea of the design competition started with the statement of DeGeneres that she “loves anything that goes in a house, including the house itself.” With that 10 contestants will be joining the show and will face different challenges as they are paired with an expert carpenter to make their designs a reality.

Contestants are Vivian Beer of New Hampshire, Bradley Bowers of Florida, Kyle Huntoon of Michigan, Miles Endo and McKenzie Gibson both from Rhode Island while Alexis Moran, Sef Pinney, and Melissa Rivera Torres are from California, HGTV reported.

“It’s got the drama of their having to come up with ideas while trying to make a deadline,” DeGeneres said, according to NorthWest Herald, who will occasionally appear in the show being the executive producer. “My passion is design. Some of the designs on the show are functional as a piece of furniture, and some of it is art. Some of my favorite chairs are not really comfortable, but I love the design of them. It’s not going to be in my living room to actually invite guests to sit on, but it’s going to be an object I love having on display.”

The show's executive producer promised that this season will be bigger and better. “Ellen’s Design Challenge" will debut on Monday at 8p.m. on HGTV.
