A real estate developer pulled all the stops to buy former Montreal Children's Hospital.

The Montreal Children's Hospital sits in a highly coveted real estate on Atwater Avenue and Ste-Catherine Street. According to Montreal Gazette, Luc Poirier's company Les Placements Luc Poirier Ltd. won the bid to purchase the property. It was reported to be a highly contested auction with many bidders vying for prime downtown real estate.

In May, the hospital has been vacated of patients and medical equipment was moved to McGill University Health Centre in Glen Yard. Poirier disclosed that he and his company have heard the news of their victory ahead of the official announcement of their winning bid. He said, "We've known for a couple of days."

While the winning bidder has been announced and made official, the final price Poirier's company paid for the property has not been made public yet. It was previously reported that the MUHC and provincial government wanted $47 million as the lot has been given a municipal valuation of $49 million. Poirier assured that the sale price will be announced once the transaction has been made official by a deed of sale. Poirier is one of the youngest and most successful realtors in the world at the age of 40. Les Placements Luc Poirier Ltd. is responsible for the $55 million Griffix condo tower in Griffintown and also invested $28 million for the conversion of a golf club into 2,000 housing units.

In a report by CJAD 800 AM, it was mentioned that Poirier talked about the new structure that will rise in the former Children's Hospital. He said there is real possibility that the property will be used for building a baseball stadium for the Montreal Expos. However, he clarifies this is just one of the many ideas he is considering for the location. He also announced that he is open to talk with possible partners that have vision and expertise that would push his next project to success.
