'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Release Date & Cast: Kit Harington is Next Batman?

With "Game of Thrones" Season 5 scheduled to hit TV screens this April, it seems that one actor from the show's cast of characters is already considering his future once the series has ended. Kit Harington is reportedly interested in playing the role of the caped crusader, Batman.

Harington became famous for playing the role of Jon Snow, the illegitimate child of Ned Stark in HBO's "Game of Thrones." He is set to return for the series' fifth season. However, the actor has conveyed his wish to go beyond his role in the fantasy series and portray a superhero. According to MTV UK, Harington has expressed his desire to play Bruce Wayne's alter ego.

"I'd love to play superhero," said Harington. He added, "I would love to play Batman."

However, the British actor noted that the "Batman" he has in mind is quite different from the last movies shown by Hollywood. The "Pompeii" actor felt that the recent films by Christopher Nolan were too dark and grim for his taste, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

Harington is set on a lighter version of Gotham's superhero. "I'd camp him up again," he mused. "He's gone way too dark and serious. I'd like proper spandex," he added.

The actor also believes that superhero movies should steer clear from the somber tone it has taken recently. "Superhero movies got all too serious - they need to get silly again," he said.

Harington is not the only actor who has shown interest in playing the role of Alfred's master. According to The Daily Mail, 47 Ronin actor Keanu Reeves has shown some interest in playing the role for Nolan's adaptation of "The Dark Knight."

"I always wanted to play The Dark Knight, but I didn't get that one," he revealed. "They've had some great Batmans. So now I'm enjoying them as an audience," he added.

Hollywood actors who played the role of "Batman" included Christian Bale, val Kilmer, George Clooney and Michael Keaton. The latest addition to this list is Ben Affleck, who would suit up as Gotham's superhero in the upcoming movie, "Batman vs. Superman."

Meanhwile, since Warner Bros. Studios has announced that Affleck would don the costume, fans of the franchise have expressed disappointed for his casting, reported Forbes. An avid Batman fan, John Roden, even filed a petition on Change.org to have the producers take the actor off the movie.

According to Roden, the "Argo" director's "acting skills is not even close to being believable as Bruce Wayne."
