'Mortal Kombat X' Release Date, Characters: New Trailer Shows Kitana & Kung Lao [Watch]

Four years after "Mortal Kombat 9" came out, developers of the video game are now coming out with a new version called, "Mortal Kombat X." A trailer was released early last week to tease fans with just exactly what they could expect in the coming edition.

The extended trailer shows players how the battles would look like in actual gameplay, reported Time. The new trailer shows a lot of bloody scenes, brutal fighting and Kano being beheaded by the Edenian princess, Kitana.

In the new video, both Princess Kitana and Kung Lao are engaged in different fight scenes. Kitana wears a blue one-piece swimsuit and holds two fans which double as weapons. She uses them to cut Kano in pieces, mainly his head.

Meanwhile, Kung Lao's hat also provided him with extra armor in his fights. The razor sharp hat hurts opponents in ways that are too graphic, noted GMA Network.

Followers of the video game first saw the two in "Mortal Kombat II." But this year, both Kitana and Kung Lao would be introduced as playable characters in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat" game, noted Breathe Cast.

Towards the end of the trailer, viewers could see the four-armed Goro while the word "Goro Lives" comes on screen. He is the third playable character introduced in the trailer and would be joining the rest.

However, Goro's character would only be available if the game is pre-ordered, said Playstation Lifestyle. On the other hand, Master Herald noted that NetherRealm, the game's developer, might sell Goro as a playable character in the future.

Other characters available are Raiden, Kano, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Scorpion and Quan Chi. Gamer Headlines reported that additional characters would be introduced in this tenth installment of "Mortal Kombat" namely, Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah, Cassie Cage and Ferra.

The tenth edition of the popular video game is set 25 years after "Mortal Kombat 9." According to IGN, players would now have the option play as members of a faction. Players could choose one from the five factions available: the Special Force, Lin Kuei, White Lotus, Black Dragon and the Brotherhood of Shadows.

The new videogame would be out in the market on April 14. This would be available for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and via online in PC.

Game Spot reported that console peripherals and accessories company, PDP, launched a new controller made just for "Mortal Kombat" in the recent Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas.
