'Transformers 5' Release Date, Cast & Plot: Mark Wahlberg Confirms Movie [Rumors]

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg confirms that they would soon be filming a sequel to his "Transformers: Age of Extinction."

A report from ScreenRant.com revealed that actor Mark Wahlberg feels the next installment of Paramount Pictures' "Transformers" would feature him again.

The actor confirmed his come-back in the billion-dollar box office film in an interview with MTV while he was promoting "The Gambler," his other film released on December 19.

"Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more... you know I can't speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we'll be on the set soon," says the actor after he was asked whether he would be reprising his role in "Transformers 4."

Here's a clip from his interview with MTV:

In the film, Wahlberg played Texas inventor and mechanic Cade Yeager, the film’s human protagonist who found the remains of the beaten up truck that happened to be Autobots leader and Optimus Prime.

According to the ScreenRant report, Wahlberg's first "Transformers" experience earned Paramount Pictures and Director Michael Bay a hefty US$1 billion even despite its critical standing.

This means the creation of "Transformers 5" seems to be inevitable though it is still unclear whether Bay, the helmer of the past four of the franchise's flicks, would still be directing.

A past report from ScreenRant noted how the 49-year-old filmmaker implied that he has no intentions to do the fifth "Transformers" movie.

"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles," says Michael Bay, who was allegedly venturing on doing a documentary on elephant poaching as stated in a USA Today report published in August.

News about Bay "passing the baton" has not been confirmed or denied yet as other rumors surfaced including one implying that "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" director Jonathan Liebesman is one of the possible next helmers.

However, series producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told ScreenRant in another report that they are still trying to convince Bay not to give up directing the film.

"It's not like we don't think, well what happens if Michael doesn't do it, of course you do. But we want to keep Michael on this, so we're not spending any time worrying about who could come in. We're trying to figure out how to keep him going and keep him excited," he stated.

Meanwhile, a past report by ScreenRant revealed that Paramount Pictures is considering 2016 as the release of the fifth "Transformers" film, the same time as "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Avatar 2," and "Star Trek 3."
