Home Design Trends: '90s Home Trends That Are Definitely Coming Back This Year

The '90s home trends are definitely starting to come back. From decorations to home designs, these trends are coming back to the scene with a more sophisticated look.

Apartment Therapy said that one of the trends that were present back in the '90s that is making a comeback this year is minimalist designs, and with that, white kitchens are beginning to be a trend again. The site said that many elegant homes are now opting for pared-down aesthetic or simple designs. This trend can be seen in many white kitchens, and now not only tables and cabinets can be white but also modern appliances.

Another '90s trend that is making a comeback is floral wallpapers. According to Trulia, most homes in the '90s were decorated with floral wallpapers, and when the early 2000 came, many homeowners chose to get rid of it. Today, floral wallpapers are used as wall accents in powder rooms and bedrooms. The key with floral wallpapers is to not go overboard and to only use an updated pattern in small doses.

With that, beige and white colors which are very popular during the '90s will also be returning this year. These neutral colors complement minimalist styles of that era. Many designers have been using these colors in interior decorations and layering the beige and white tones to give the room texture.

Japanese accents were also popular among many interior designers in the '90s because of their minimalist look. Many believe that the Japanese style of decorating depicts a clean and uncluttered environment. This design also shows the love of nature.

In 2016, this trend usually would go to the Far East with Japanese-inspired screen doors, clean-lined furniture and the use of natural wood. Speaking of wood, the use of light wood and knotty pine will also be reappearing this year. Many kitchens are stylishly designed with these items as they are inexpensive and very stylish.
