Android 5.0 Lollipop Download for Samsung Galaxy S5 Released

Samsung Galaxy S5 will now be able to download the newest version of Android as Samsung just released the update to S5 users in Poland, CNET reported.

According to Sam Mobile, this will mark the first time that the Korean company was able to release an update of Android's newest operating system shortly after it was released. Google released Lollipop on November 4.

At present, the Android update is only available for S5 users in Poland because of the tedious certification process in other countries, including the United States, which slows down device roll-out, according to Forbes.

The Galaxy S5 gadgets released in Poland is almost the same as its European counterpart, which led many to assume that Europe will be next to receive the update, according to CNET.

With the Android 5.0 Lollipop, Galaxy S5 users will be able to fully utilize their device. The update will enhance the S5 and according to Sam Mobile, it will also introduce a Material Design capability for the gadget, "which makes UI elements alive and natural to touch."

Google also made improvements to its Design Material, which improved the design of the S5. Because of the enhancements in design, Samsung now has a white colored theme, different from the blue theme it sported in earlier versions of the Galaxy S series. In addition, apps now come with a colored status bar and a new font.

When it comes to the features, Android 5.0 Lollipop introduces a brand new lock screen for the S5, with widgets for MirrorLink, notifications support, Smart Lock, tap & go, heads-up notifications and priority mode among others.

In addition, Samsung has installed a built in folder which saves the history of copied texts and screenshots, as well as updating the finger print driver for the fingerprint lock screen for better finger print recognition.

In terms of performance, the Android 5.0 for S5 provides a lag free performance. According to Sam Mobile, "Samsung has developed the most speedy software for a smartphone to date, period."

The speedy performance of the software could either be because Samsung has optimized its software or because of the system's new ART runtime.

To update the Samsung Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the device must be connected to the computer and use Samsung's FOTA (firmware-over-the-air) or the Samsung Kies Service. Then proceed to the Settings tab > System > About Device > Software update > Update to download and install the newest Android system.
