Winter and the winter storm had made its presence entirely felt by most Americans. In the Souther part of America, things are not going smoothly with the storm and the flood that it brings. Aside from that in other regions of the country, snow has been starting to fall down heavily, Washington Post even reported some blizzard warning to prepare citizen of the coming storm.

In the after math of the said event, it can be expected that snow will be filling most of the driveways and streets. That is why it would be necessary to be extra careful. Aside from the danger that winter and winter storm could cause outside, there could also be a danger inside. There are some reported damages of roofs in past years linked to heavy snow fall.

The best solution for it is to clean the snow once the weather would allow clearing procedures to commence, for if ice and snow near your property will be left unattended, accidents may happen. And for such reason guidelines were placed to be followed in removing ice and snow. In the following article of New York Times, it highlighted some particular rule with the said matter:

City rules require residents, property owners and business owners to keep the public areas surrounding their buildings safe after a winter storm. That includes shoveling the sidewalk along the side of the building. It also means keeping street corners clear so pedestrians can get to the crosswalk. (So, the next time you scale a snow mound to find the crosswalk, you could blame the nearest property owner.)

Property owners have a few hours' reprieve after the storm to get to work, but the snow, slush and ice should not be left to linger.
