'GTA 5' Xbox One, PS4 Review: Initial Next Gen Game Review Roundup

Everyone is back in Los Santos. Rockstar has released the "Next Generation" version of popular game "Grand Theft Auto V." With the GTA 5 being released for newer consoles, here we've rounded up the initial reviews provided by game experts.

The Independent described the "GTA 5" for Xbox One as "beautiful chaos." Referring to the enhancements as a "face-lift," it notes the elevation in the level of play is due to the "stunning graphical improvements."

"Grass dances in the wind, fire rips through oil slicks, cars gleam under the streetlights and the horizons... I've already abandoned psychopathically stalking pedestrians about five times just to watch the sun bloom over Mount Chiliad," published the site.

While the improvements are in the display quality and aesthetic appeal, the introduction of the First Person Mode is what really set the game apart. The new perspective is able to give gamers a truly different experience as it turns an already chaotic world into overdrive.

The site concluded that the overall experience the First Person mode provides is much more authentic. Although it did note that "it likely won't be advantageous for online gamers as in addition to making shooting and driving a lot more authentic it is also much more challenging."

Digital Spy gave a pretty similar review. In addition to describing the earlier versions of the game as "stunning," it noted that due to the limitations of the technology for earlier consoles, it always felt like more could be achieved.

The site noted glitches in stutter during intense sequences as well a delay in scene graphics. "While these visual glitches haven't disappeared completely, GTA 5 on new consoles performs at a much higher and more consistent level."

Playing the game provides a much more realistic feel with more little details being provided to sum up into a pretty natural game experience.

The site noted the benefits of the First Person Mode in open spaces even though it provides a bit of difficulty when maneuvering in tight pathways. The new mode provides detailed animations giving gamers a feeling that is more than simply shooting -- it feels as its an actual simulation.

For now, most reviews echo the same sentiments. As experts continue to explore and enjoy the newly released game, a better, more comprehensive review should be provided towards the end of the month.

Below is the teaser of "Grand Theft Auto V" uploaded in Rockstar Games' YouTube account.
