And what may last as a popular choice for designers and home enthusiasts? From Brazilian Modern, to 80's vintage, the designers are welcoming over these top trends and surely, these will make a great addition to the gallery that homeowners are including in their house' makeover.

Daily Times spills the top new trends in interior design that various designers are suggesting to enter in 2016 while Stuff details how a simple homeowner can fulfill these changes in their homes.

1. Multifunctionality

Convert one room into a multi-functioning space.

"We are always looking to save space and money, so spaces that can be used for dual purposes are ideal. Kitchens are dining areas, bathrooms are workout spaces or wellness retreats and verandas are treated as rooms," advised Designer Sonya Cotter.

2. Clash is In

Although conservativity in design is undoubtedly a classic approach in decorating homes, the trend now does presume that contrast in your living room's pieces and the clash in colors is the new "in" thing.

"The mixing of materials is something we are going to be seeing a lot more of," said Wellington designer Libby Beattie from the outlet. "Mixing a retro chair with a deep, buttoned sofa is typical of this mis-match of furniture styles."

Meanwhile, Potter and Designer Jonathan Adler also believes that this variations will enter the trend in 2016. "We live in an anything-goes world where it's okay to mix high with low, mid-century with minimalist modern, colours, patterns and everything in between. The best trend I'm seeing is people forgetting about the 'rules' and loving what they love unapologetically," Adler said from Daily Times.

3. Glamming is Still Trending

Decorating with glam is still going to be hot this new year. Brood of metallics, extravagant chandeliers and vintage looking pieces will also enter the hot trend list. Designer Justina Blakeney also adds that the funky era in home decor, the "80's vintage" may be back this year.

"As the '80s start to be the decade to look back to in interior design, I would watch for Memphis-style pieces-geometric motifs and silhouettes and clashing bright colours," Blakeney shared. "Look for pieces less kitsch than the true Memphis designs but that are just as fun and experimental."
