'Doctor Who' Season 10 Spoilers: Peter Capaldi Rumored to Leave the Show

"Doctor Who" is one show that has lasted for years and one of the secrets could be its revolving lead role. The current Doctor Peter Capaldi is the Twelfth Doctor who took over Matt Smith (the Eleventh Doctor) in 2014.

Capaldi hinted that he will possibly exit from the British sci-fi TV program and that his third year will be his last year in the show.

"This could be my final year — it's terrifying," Capaldi said in an interview with The Telegraph. "I love 'Doctor Who' but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things. There will come a time when this is over."

Capaldi, 57-year-old, has already played the character for two seasons as well as two Christmas special episodes.

"But I knew that when I started. I was thinking about my regeneration scene from the outset. That's my terrible melancholic nature," the Scottish actor and award-winning film director added. "When you accept the job you know there'll come a day, inevitably, when you'll be saying goodbye."

The former "Doctor Who" Matt Smith also shared the same sentiment prior to his announcement that he will be leaving the show. But of course, before the current Doctor leaves, another one will enter, Music Times reported.

One actor expressed his interest to play the role in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit. A fan asked Tim Roth if he’d consider playing the role of the Time Lord saying, " Mr. Roth, would you please, please, please be the next Doctor?"

"Ok. If this is the casting director, I'm all for it,” Roth replied according to Express UK.

But that doesn't confirm that Roth will be taking over the role. Although he could be an exciting replacement. On the other hand, a twist in the end of Season 9 shows that a male Time Lord became a woman which may hint that the next Doctor could possibly be a woman, Cinema Blend reported.
