High price tags and expensive sales were among the most talked about stories in the real estate market for this year, and it looks like the same trend that is going for Boston and its suburbs, boston.com reports.

Small cities in Massachusetts rank as some of the best in the United States
WalletHub, a personal finance site conducted a ranking of over 1,200 small cities - with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 - in America using 22 different metrics. Northampton, Milton, and Lexington were the Massachusetts town that made it to the top 30.
Somerville sets new record for most expensive home sale
It was this year that the city witnessed its most expensive home sale ever in history with the sale of a 1920 colonial home in Somerville for $1,750,000 in April.
New ranking of the most and least affluent towns in Massachusetts
Using 12 different metrics, Boston Business Journal ranked the most and least affluent community in the state with Dover taking the top spot and Lawrence as the least.
This is the salary you need to buy a typical house in Boston
A total of 27 metro areas were included in the mortgage and consumer loan site HSH.com's analysis of the minimum salary that is needed in order to purchase median-priced home in each of the areas. In Boston, the median home price is at $449,000 and the site says that in order to afford a house in the area, the minimum salary has to be $92,796.90.
Homes are getting expensive all over Massachusetts, but some towns have it worst
The Bay State area is in the midst of rising house prices and some of the Greater Boston suburbs have it worst including Milton, Hingham, and Westwood.
