‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Spoilers: Netflix Series Welcomes Elektra and the Punisher, Plus Possible Plot Twists

"Daredevil" season 2 will finally add Elektra, Matt Murdock's love interest, to the cast of the series but she is not the only one making an appearance. Marvel superhero the Punisher will also be added to the cast.

Elodie Yung has just been cast as Elektra, reported Den of Geek. Yung's most notable performance is in the 2013 film "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," where she played the lady warrior, Jinx. As to Elektra's addition to the story, viewers should expect some flashbacks regarding Elektra's and Daredevil's romance. Apart from the romance, the mercenary assassin will definitely see some action as she fights for the bad guys on the streets of Hell's Kitchen.

On the other hand, the Punisher will be played by Jon Bernthal, who is most remembered for his role as Shane Walsh in "The Walking Dead." The Punisher might be matched against Frank Castle. The new character is described as someone who would clean up Hell's Kitchen at whatever cost.

Other characters that might make an appearance in "Daredevil" season 2 include Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who will soon have his own Netflix series.

The story may include a part where Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) will be seen behind bars, Movie News Guide noted. However, "Daredevil" season 2 could also show more of Elektra and how she has turned from a nice high school teenager to a killing machine that she is now. Like what was mentioned, expect to see a lot of flashbacks as to how the Daredevil-Elektra romance turned sour, the assassin's training and her fall to the dark side.

Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), although a shady character, may not have enough character development in the second season as Matt has already too many problems to solve. Also, Elektra's inclusion to the story may mean Karen would be put to the backburner for a while.

"Daredevil" season 2 will air on Netflix sometime in 2016.
