Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery buy Malibu home from Marta Kaufman

Ellen Pompeo, Golden Globe-nominated actress, and her music producer husband Chris Ivery have spent $6,365,000 on a home located down the western stretch of Malibu.

The couple bought the place from Marta Kauffman, writer and television producer known for co-creating the popular sitcom "Friends," and her songwriter husband Michael Skloff, reports the RealEstalker.

Quoting the listing, the real estate site says that the dated-yet-traditional home sits on a 0.81-acre lot. Built in 1980, the house was designed by Buff and Hensman and was listed along with a larger parcel for $20 million in April 2007. While the Kaufmans succeeded in selling the larger parcel measuring about 1.75 acres for $10,725,000 in October 2007, the adjoining parcel had no takers. After several rounds of price cuts, it was relisted for $6.5 million in August 2013.

The gated and walled property purchased by Pompeo and Ivery offers 2,130 square feet of living space and includes a total of three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. While the main dwelling comes with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, an additional bedroom and bathroom are located in a detached guest house. The home also features a remodeled kitchen and stone floors.

The home is complete with a central courtyard, which includes a swimming pool and spa. The property also features a covered porch at the rear. One can access the backyard through wide steps, which lead to a seating area offering views of the rough coastline. The seating area includes a built-in fire pit..

Pompeo, known for portraying Meredith Grey in the ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," is not new to the real estate world. In August 2005, before she married Ivery, the 44-year-old spent $1.35 million to acquire a Mediterranean-style home on a double lot in Whitley Terrace, Hollywood. In April 2008, she and Chris bought a contemporary home in the Cahuenga Pass, located between Universal Studios and Hollywood, for $1,226,000 million. In October 2009, the couple purchased a more than 8,000-square-foot mansion in the Laughlin Park enclave, an exclusive gated community in Los Feliz, Calif., for $3,475,000.
