5 Sad Truths About Renting

As the saying goes, you can't have everything, and the same thing goes with your chosen way of dwelling. If you are currently renting, then you probably have your fair share of challenges that you need to deal with until you finally move up and own a home.

Here are 5 sad truths about renting according to Apartment Therapy:

Rental appliances are a grab bag, and sometimes terrible

Landlords very well know that they won't be getting a significant amount of incentive for upgrading the appliances in their unit rentals every time a new model comes out. As a result, you, the tenant, are stuck with an ugly avocado fridge.

There's never enough lighting and fixtures are often ugly

Most rentals come with that overhead fluorescent light that just doesn't do with the ambiance of the space. The sadder part is, it is usually the only lighting that you get when you move in. White harsh light can make your space feel dull and sterile; but you can always bring in floor and table lamps for a layered lighting and a cozier ambiance.

Outdoor space is minimal

The truth is, rentals just don't come with yards, and if you are into gardening, or loves to have people over for get-togethers, then you wouldn't be very pleased with the little to no outdoor space that comes with your rental. But it's just a matter of finding a setting that works and making the most of the amount of space you have.

There's never enough storage

If actual homes are having problems with storage, then it's understandable if it is one of the biggest problems tenants have to deal with in their rentals. There's just never enough storage, but there are plenty of temporary storage solutions that can you can try to see how they work for you. You don't even have to violate your lease; temporary wardrobes, bookshelves, and garment racks should help mend your lacking storage without receiving a notice from your landlord.

You may be "blessed" with wall to wall carpeting

You love how the wall to wall carpeting that came with your rental feel under your feet; but you would like it more if they don't look like they could use some deep cleaning and if they don't look dated.
