A Shelter That Sustains Off-Grid Living

Do you have what it takes to live off-grid? Off-grid living is a difficult choice of lifestyle to venture on. This type of lifestyle charters away all the quick necessities that are laid out upon us like electricity, telephone, water, etc. It is a strainful undertaking for starters but it could gain many advantages along the way and one of which is cutting off from the miscellaneous expenses one household has every month.

The start of off-grid living begins on the journey of not becoming dependent on the commercial distributor of electricity. According to HomePower, "When we say "off-grid," we mean that literally. The phrase refers to systems that have no connection with the utility grid, and must make all the electricity necessary for the home, business, or application."

In line with this, BoredPanda discovered a shelter that could help future off-griders to achieve all this without shedding off any sweat in making their shelters.

The product was designed by Nice Architects who are based in Bratislava and the shelter is known as ecocapsules which are already installed with off-grid amenities such as "solar panels," "retractable wind-turbine," and a water storage "valve." Aside from this, the shelter can accommodate two people and also has a built-in kitchenette and small bed inside.

"The biggest challenge was to integrate all the different technologies into the small body of the pod and still have some space left for people," according to Nice Architects based from the article. "The first design used multistage water recycling technology. Now we simplified the system and replaced the flushing toilet with composting. We are still searching for an ultimate solution."

Apart from this, the pod is also an "electric car" which eliminates the use of fuel to run it. "With the capsule in tow you can exceed the normal range of an electric car, stay somewhere for the night, and charge 1/4 quarter of the battery. This is enough to reach the nearest supercharger".
