'Justice League' News: New Female Superhero Added; Debut Appearance Paves the Way for a Standalone Film?

"Justice League" movie has a new update for its excited fans. Warner Bros. is going to add one more female superhero. Mera, Queen of Atlantis, will be making her debut appearance in the movie.

Comic Book Resources reports that "Justice League" movie part 1 will introduce one more female superhero. It means that Wonder Woman will not be the only heroine that will be in the roster of heroes.

CBR cited the report of Heroic Hollywood stating that Warner Bros. has brought out info "to talent agencies that they are seeking background information on Mera, the Queen of Atlantis, for the first 'Justice League' film."

But it is not yet certain if Mera will be part of the core group of the league. The only word that comes out from the source is that the Queen of Atlantis will debut in the "Justice League" part 1.

Screen Rant on the other hand states that the appearance of Mera in the part 1 of "Justice League" movie just to introduce her character. Both Warner Bros. and DC Comics revealed their plans for DC Extended Universe, "Aquaman" is one of those standalone films of superheroes that fans should expect. Since Mera is the wife of Aquaman in the comics, it seems that "Justice League" is the right avenue for her to make her debut appearance before she heads to "Aquaman" as a key character.

Obviously, this kind of surprise is expected somehow, since Warner Bros. and DC Comics had laid out laid the groundwork of their DC Extended Universe, starting off with the 2013 Man of Steel of Zack Snyder. Both companies disclosed to the public "their plans for the universe, with films scheduled through 2020 that include a number of standalone movies, headed by heroes like Wonder Woman and Aquaman, as well as team-ups including Suicide Squad and Justice League Part One and Two."

Cinema Blend says that Mera would not be the only one that would be making debut appearances in "Justice League" and other upcoming movie adaptation of the DC Comics. The online mag says "there's going to be a lot of classic faces from the comics" that will be brought to the big screen.
