Celebrity Real Estate: Melanie Griffith's Video for Aspen Home Gets 100,000 Views [UPDATE]

Actress Melanie Griffith's star power is proving to be useful in real estate business. As previously reported, her luxe Aspen mountain home is currently on the market for $8.9 million. To boost the listing's promotion, the Golden Globe winner paired it with a video, where she also appears.

According to Aspen Times, Griffith's strategy seems to be working, as the video has now gotten more than 100,000 views since its posting last Oct. 30.

Bob Bowden of Bowden Properties, Griffith's realtor, said the actress was initially reluctant to appear on the video to advertise the "Griffith Estate on Aspen Mountain."

"It was my deep belief that it's such a special property on the backside of the mountain, and it's in a more rural setting, and these type of properties aren't in every broker's typical rotation," he said. "And because of her involvement in the video, it just gives enough interest, and our showings have blossomed because of it."

Bowden added that he was surprised with the turnout of Griffith's commercial. "I'm 64 years old, and generally, I don't have the respect I should have for the Internet and social media. I'm just overwhelmed by this," he said. "But I truly feel that if there's a story to a home, people like to hear it."

The one-minuter was shot professionally, complete with aerial shots. It was produced by Barry Stevenson of Outside Adventure Media. Stevenson said that most Aspen real estate marketing videos generally average about 5,000 views, but Griffith's is a surprising outcome.

"To our knowledge, this is the first time a celebrity has appeared in their own home-marketing video," Stevenson said. "And based on its initial success, it may become very common in the future."

Realtor.com has commented on the video, saying that it is changing the game in real estate business.

"Don't these ads buck real estate rule No. 1, which is to depersonalize a home as much as possible so that potential buyers can imagine themselves living there? Well, this long-held belief may be changing," the site stated.

The "Griffith Estate on Aspen Mountain" sits on a 12-acre property and has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a separate guest house. Watch the trending video below:
