Celebrity Homes for Sale: Millard House Chicago Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright Has Been Listed for $749K

The house of George Madison Millard is now listed in the market for $749,000. George and his wife Alice lived together in the house located in Chicago Highland Park community.

The real estate property was built in 1906 and was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, according to the report from Trib Live.

Millard's home boasts a unique and very detailed Prairie design which is known to be a popular signature of Frank Lloyd Wright. The house, which borders Lake Michigan, features 68 original art glass windows. The property is considered to be the first of two houses that was designed by Wright for the Millard couple, according to Curbed.

Future residents will enjoy the "airy and bright" atmosphere of the house. The property has a wide and elegant living room, dining room, office, family room, laundry room and kitchen. The house is made of wood.

This is not the first time that the Millards' real estate property was listed. A related report from Curbed says that "the house was first listed in May 2011 for $1.399 million, but has bounced on and off the market numerous times since. The home has now been reduced to $849,000, which the listing states is priced at land value." The home has reportedly undergone 12 price cuts since it entered the real estate market.

"When George Millard retired as manager of rare books for A.C. McClurg in 1913, the couple moved to Pasadena, Calif., and had Wright design their retirement home in 1923. Named La Miniatura and commonly referred to as the Millard House, it is recognized as one of the world's most important works of residential architecture. Their original Chicago home, now for sale, is a classic Wright Prairie School design and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The four-bedroom, four-bath home is situated on a large lot with mature trees," Trib Live said.
