Andy Warhol's Former New York Home Up for Sale [PHOTOS]

Andy Warhol's former townhome in New York City is up for sale and is priced at a cool $5.795 million.

According to the NY Times, the artist bought the home in 1959 for $60,000 and shared the Carnegie Hill-area home with his mother. It was during that time period that Warhol created some of his most iconic work, including the colorful renditions of Campbell's soup cans, dollar bills and comic strips. He used the main floor as his painting studio.

The townhouse is located at 1342 Lexington Avenue and he lived there between 1959 and 1974.

The house photos provided by the listing agency shows that the home's current owners are major collectors in their own right, with works on view including a Jeff Koons dog vase and Matthew Porter's manipulated photo "110 Junction," among countless other works and beautiful design objects.

"The parlor level offers both an entry foyer and a gracious gallery, perfect for displaying your art treasures," the property's real estate listing suggests. "From the gallery one enters the lovely entertaining spaces: a wood-paneled library/dining room and a formal living room, both featuring wood-burning fireplaces."
