'Sherlock' Season 4 Updates: Filming Starts April-ish, 'Doctor Who' Crossover Possible?

"Sherlock" and "Doctor Who" showrunner, Steven Moffat has revealed some juicy details of the TV shows including a possible crossover episode.

The latest news about the TV show "Sherlock" comes as a relief to its fans. The season 4 of the crime solving TV series after all was not cancelled, according to Youth Health. Steven Moffat himself, has revealed that filming will begin next year suggesting a possibility for a 2017 release. Moreover the showrunner has shared that the production for the season 4 will begin after the "Sherlock" Christmas special this December.

According to Collider, Steven Moffat has said during the interview, "I think we're shooting next year, April-ish." It was reported that there are not scripts yet but Moffat said that scriptwriter and "Sherlock" co-creator Mark Grattis "will be starting very soon."

He added, "He may have started. I've got to finish my Doctor Who Christmas special, and then I'll be straight onto Sherlock after that. We haven't started, but we've planned. We know what we're doing. Haha. Or we think we know what we think we're doing. There are a couple of things we've got lined up that are really quite strong surprises, but we'll see."

When Moffat was asked about a possible crossover with "Doctor Who," he replied, "That's a question that I get asked so often, and I can't keep answering it. It's all right for 'Doctor Who.' That's fine. But it would change Sherlock's life, if he met the Doctor and knew that time travel was possible." It looks like he did not brush off such possibility but they would have to come up with a very good script from the point of view of "Sherlock."

A 2017 release for "Sherlock" season 4 is possible if the filming will indeed happen sometime in April. According to Movie Pilot, Steven Moffat reported has confirmed that the push back in production is due to scheduling conflicts. For now, fans would still have to wait for further announcement from the show creators as filming in "April-ish" doesn't sound so definitive.
