'Edge of Eternity' Author Ken Follet Lists 'Bananaquit' Home for $25 Million

"Edge of Eternity," Ken Follett's most current novel is set to launch. The novel is about the Cold War in Berlin. However, the best-selling writer is focused on his balmy beachfront, Antigua estate, which is now listed at $25 million.

The author said, "I remember writing about winter in Berlin ... sitting there with all the windows wide open and the soft Caribbean breezes coming in, and trying to imagine myself in freezing cold Germany."

The estate is located at Jumby Bay Island, it has eight all-white bedrooms in the house and sits at almost 11,600 square feet, according to David Vaughan, of Jumby Bay Island Co. listing. The property is named after a local bird, is L-shaped and sits on 1.5 acres of land. The house views the oceans and one can enjoy the breezes from the residence. There's also a lighted tennis court and a swimming pool with a cabana to give shade.

The author came from England and was born in Wales, where he has a country home in the Knebworth Village and a house in London. Follet said he usually stays 10 weeks per year in Jumby Bay, always with guests, his grandchildren and children. Famous for his historical fiction and spy thrillers, the creative author stated he wrote his books in the house. The house was built in the 1990s with the help of his wife, Barbara.

As his family continually grows, Follet explained that it's difficult to gather all his family members at Jumby Bay, which motivated him to put the property on sale. "The way in which we spend our holidays together has changed," he stated.

Jumby Bay is roughly two miles from the northern part of Antigua, it is a 300-acre private island with a resort and almost 50 homes. There are presently about seven Jumby Bay properties on sale, according to Vaughan, like the 21,820 square foot home of Ty Molineux listed at $28.5 million.
