'Under The Dome' Season 4: Producers Finally Confirm Series Won't Be Renewed

"Under the Dome" producers and execs have given up hope on the possibility of having the series renewed for another season.

After CBS announced the cancellation of the show ahead of Season 3' finale episode, the executive producers of "Under the Dome" reportedly reached out to Netflix and Hulu in the hopes of having the show picked up by the online streaming sites. After months of waiting for their show's fate, it was confirmed that the series wouldn't be picked up by either Netflix or Hulu.

However, executive producer Neal Baer recently spoke with TV Line to clarify that they never really reached out to Netflix or Hulu. In fact, Baer added that he never had any intentions of continuing with a fourth season after CBS decided to cancel "Under the Dome."

Baer also revealed that they wrote the finale episode for Season 3 in such a way that it could reveal more details about the series if it will be renewed, according to Yibada. However, none of this will happen, but Baer is still reportedly pleased with how Season 3 ended.

"They would have gone someplace else, and the dome would come down over another place. But then it would be like, 'Then, what?' Would we do the same thing again? It would have been a real challenge. I went on this incredibly interesting adventure that was a parable for sustainability in our world, and now, it's up to us to live the real life and do something about it," he said.

Baer also explained why they decided to write Season 3 in such a way that it hinted on the possibility of having the series renewed.

"Yes and no, in the sense that we didn't know if there would be a fourth season. In a way, we gave ourselves an ending that really ended the show," he said.
