After the revelation of what Harrison Wells' true intention is for Barry Allen's strength, the question for the upcoming season is who will be heading over at STAR Labs? As many have seen, Wells handled the lab from almost the entire first season. Many might not look too far on who's next in line to lead STAR labs, not too obvious and not merely a scientist, EW reports that Iris West (Candice Patton) will be leading the team this upcoming season.
According to the article of Cartermatt and EW, Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg reveals Iris' potential qualities that makes her perfect to lead STAR labs. Kreisberg said, "Iris slides into [the role] very naturally ... She's a born leader. One of the best things in the premiere is Barry decides that he wants to work alone because he doesn't want to risk anyone else's lives, and Iris is really the one who gets the band back together again. She's the only one who can stand up to Barry."
Iris West portrayed by Candice Patton is a journalist at Central City Picture News. She is the foster sister and acts as the confidante of Barry Allen in the series. She is also the future wife of Barry Allen as revealed through her name (Iris West-Allen) in the 2024 newspaper of Eobard Thawne/ Harrison Wells. In the last season, West experienced a lot of turmoil and grief over the sacrifice her fiancé Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) who made to save Barry Allen and eventually erased Harrison Wells from humanity.
Next season aside from the leadership of West for the STAR Labs team, will we see a more powerful villain to fight off Barry aside from Captain Cold (Leonard Snart)? Could there be more cross-overs to happen next season with Arrow's Oliver Queen?
