‘Rocket League’ Game: MLG eSports Tournament Ends In Spectacular Fashion

Psyonix's physics-based vehicle soccer video game "Rocket League" made headlines recently after eSports website Major League Gaming hosted "Rocket League" eSports tournament that ended in a spectacular fashion. The game which was released last month on PS4 and PC instantly became popular among soccer fans, Design & Trend reported.

In the tournament, fans were able  to witness the showdown between the Cosmic Aftershock and Kings of Urban. It was noted that the tournament was relatively small with only a handful of teams who competed for the $500 prize. Gamers can watch the Cosmic Aftershock vs Kings of Urban - Grand Finals via MLG's YouTube channel.

"The tournament came to a head during the final series of matches: a best of three between the crowd favorite team Cosmic Aftershock and underdog upstarts Urban," the report said.

According to Design & Trend, Cosmic Aftershock's performance was described as "unstoppable" during the tournament's earlier matches. The team was able to secure victory after victory led by the team's popular member Kronovi, who was tagged as the top "Rocket League" player." However, the team ended up losing in game 2 with a standing score 4-3, in favor of Kings of Urban.

"Urban were making things difficult for Cosmic - pressuring, defending well. Towards the end of the match things started getting interesting: Urban scored, taking the game to 3-2. In a last gasp attempt to tie the second game Cosmic got aggressive and lost another goal. 4-2. Urban wins the series and the very first MLG Rocket League tournament literally at the death," Kotaku said.

Meanwhile, PlayStation Lifestyle said that Supersonic Fury, the latest DLC of "Rocket League," can now be downloaded for only $3.99. Psyonix has earlier announced that additional contents such as "weird" and "crazy" maps will be rolled out in the future.
