Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation Features & Review: Media Player the Best iPod Yet, Almost Like An iPhone

Industry commentators and critics claim that Apple's latest iPod iteration, the iPod 6th Generation, is by far the best iPod Touch yet. The iPod Touch 6th Generation shares almost the same features with an iPhone except for the voice and text capabilities, a report from Master Herald said on Monday.

According to Master Herald, Apple's iPod Touch 6 now has the capability to perform multiple functions as it can track a user's health and fitness via a tracker, play modern and visually rich video games, launch different kinds of applications, communicate via a Wi-Fi network, store various kinds of data, play music, and perform other related functions that are expected in a media player device.

Apple's media player was launched on July 22, which apparently came as a surprise to Apple users amid speculations of its release date that have surfaced on the web.

According to the same report, Apple users will be able to use iPod Touch 6th Generation for communication purposes. To do this, the iPod must be connected to an established Wi-Fi network.

The report pointed out that the media player is powered by iOS 8.4 mobile operating system. With the said mobile operating system in the device, Apple users can use both Facetime and iMessage apps to communicate with others.

Gizmag also reports that Apple's media player is 32 percent lighter than the iPhone 6. The media player was described as an "incredibly light device" and its build is said to be a preview of the upcoming iteration of Apple's iPhone product line.

Though the iPod Touch 6th Generation features a thin and sleek physical design, the media player has no Touch ID, which apparently makes it the company's lowest-priority mobile device. The media player also comes with 1 GB of RAM and is powered by Apple A8 system-on-a-chip clocked at 1.13 GHz, which is reportedly 19 percent slower compared to the clock speed in iPhone 6 using the A8 mobile chip processor.
