QuakeCon 2015: ‘Elder Scrolls: Online Tamriel’ Imperial City DLC Will Be Rolled Out Next Month

On Sunday, ZeniMax Online, the game developer behind "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited," has announced that the video game will have its first DLC, the Imperial City, which will be rolled out on August 31. The reported DLC will be playable next week via an ESO public test server. The company has also revealed that future DLCs will be released quarterly through ESO, a report from IGN said.

Based on the IGN report, the soon-to-be-released the Imperial City DLC will become a "familiar locale" for those gamers who played the "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion." The Imperial City DLC reportedy has elements in the city that are familiar such as its architecture and layout. The report, however, emphasized that the various events of the "Elder Scrolls Online" video game occurred 700 years ahead than Oblivion.

According to a similar report from Ecumenical, "Elder Scrolls: Online Tamriel" Imperial City DLC will focus on a specific but different angle of the video game, which is the "close-quarters combat." The report also hinted that the Imperial City DLC will likely introduce a new  in-game currency for the video game, which is called the "Tel Var Stones."

"First and foremost, we wanted to make sure that we expanded on the PvP offering in 'Elder Scrolls Online.' For Imperial City, we wanted to make sure the focus was on close-quarters combat with a smaller scale. Instead of huge open fields and siege weapons, Imperial City combat will take place in cramped quarters with a lot of overlap between environmental hazards and aggressive enemy players. The hybrid PvE and PvP play areas will offer plenty of opportunities for players to attack other players opportunistically, crashing the party while their targets are occupied with a nest of angry daedra," creative director Rich Lambert said, as quoted by the website.

Meanwhile, active ESO Plus members will be able to obtain The Imperial City DLC. However, if players want to have a separate copy of the video game, the new DLC will be sold for $20, according to Ecumenical.
