7 Effective Clutter Busters For Small Room Spaces

Clutter is a problem faced by almost every household, but it is a much more challenging scenario for those who dwell in small room spaces.

Fortunately, there are ways to go around this problem and Apartment Therapy believes that these 7 clutter busters are the answers to your small room clutter problems:

Have less stuff (purge, purge, purge).

Half of the battle when dealing with clutter is having less stuff to begin with. If you have been in your place for quite a while, then a major purge may be necessary. If you are just moving in and having a hard time identifying which leaves and stays, begin with separating the ones that are most important to you and just fit the less important ones in. Send to Goodwill those that you can't seem to find a category in.

Have a space for everything.

While space is obviously an issue for small rooms, having a space for everything may sound impossible. But the thing is, if you don't have space for things, they could end up in your countertop or the floor (which could easily make your room feel cluttered). Consider creating those sneaky storage spaces to keep your space in order, or, just own things that you really use.

Have more spaces than you think you need.

Take the offensive when it comes to battling with clutter - clutter tends to expand slowly and sneakily. Besides having space for everything, you also have to make extra space for whatever that is floating around that just doesn't have a god space. Consider creating a "junk drawer" where you can toss things in so you keep your space decluttered without having to reorganize.

Use the walls.

Ever heard of wall-hung organizers and shelves? How about hanging shelves and drawers above dressers, or installing pot rails above sinks or counter tops? You will create a lot of storage space by making use of your wall as base for the storage-making features.

Embrace opacity.

Instead of using a clear material for your storage containers, consider using an opaque material instead. That way, you hide the ugly sight of wires, cords, and whatnots all jumbled together.

Stop clutter before it starts.

Having a landing strip near the front door is a brilliant way to combat clutter right where it starts. From that pit stop, you can then one by one take your things and find their appropriate spot instead of just  tucking them in wherever they would fit.

Let yourself cheat (a little).

Consider outsourcing your storage by sending things that you know you would use just once or twice a year like a Christmas tree or a ball gown. Don't think of it as paying just to store your stuff; doing so will free up the huge amount of space they used to be in and you are actually expanding the square footage of your apartment and ain't that worth it?!
